Shake-And-Go

The Alchemy Of Mixing Function With Aesthetics

Drink mixes and flavor additives were gaining popularity, and at the same time, straw tumblers were hitting a commodity point in the market. We were asked to bring a fresh aesthetic to an existing architecture, and dig into the trend of drink mixers to identify opportunities for innovation. Our observations showed that users did not have a good way of sealing the tumbler when mixing their drink, so instead simply plugged the straw hole with their finger. We could see this was a problem begging for a solution. Ideation and brainstorms lead us to the answer: a design that not only seals the tumbler automatically but doesn't force the user to relearn a behavior.  The result was a completely new lid platform for Contigo, and a product line unique to retailer with three body styles. Shake & Go™ gained significant shelf space at the expense of competitors at all major retailers, and eared a full program at Costco.
